films

hi, i'm Lux.

I wasn't born a filmmaker, I'm just a young pup in the biz. I stumbled into filmmaking on my way from back from a rock band practice. I heard bunch of gunshots over the fence...I couldn't run of cource cuz my Gibson guitar was too heavy, and before I could take one step, I heard on a megaphone...CUT!

From then on, I saw the world from the other side of that fence.....read bio

    Shiva short film

I got a call from Barbara Bird of The Characters to meet up with a Vancouver local Tony Dean Smith about a short film he's prepping. We met up at a coffee shop and quickly realized we actually met a few years back on a music video gig. At the time I was living in Toronto and in Vancouver shooting a bunch of music videos. Tony edited a couple of videos (Dead Celebrity Status and Aaron Pritchett). It was a quick meeting but the impression lasted long. We got really excited to work together.

We used the 2KSI camera and a small lighting package. I kept everything minimal and soft, cuz the crew was quite small. I wasn't really sure how the footage would turn out, but after seeing the first shot on an HD monitor, I realized how classical the camera frames @ 2.35:1 scope.

The camera uses 16mm lenses and naturally frames at 2.35:1, so shots tend to have deep focus and wider angle. I then approached (framing and lighting) the rest of the film classical.

Here's a classic way of faking a car shot, which we matched with wide driving shots. To my surprise, the camera is very light sensitive that it even read moonlight reflecting on the road and gave me a cool rim light around the car.
